Getting Oriented…In A Vintage Automobile

Even though Prague is a relatively small city, its maze-like streets can make it difficult for first-time visitors to get a clear sense of where various landmarks are in relation to others. One of the best ways to get a visual overview of the city – and do so in style – is in a chauffeur-driven vintage convertible. While there are several tour companies offering this service, my recommendation is that you contact “MAT” (see contact info below), who can arrange to have an English-speaking driver pick you up at your hotel in a classic 1920s-era Czech made open-top car. There are two different tours to choose from; I recommend you opt for the fun and informative “big” tour (1,500 CZK), which lasts approximately one hour and includes all the major tourist sites, including Wenceslas Square, Old Town, and the Prague Castle. It’s best to do the tour on the first day of your trip to Prague, and if possible I would arrange the tour on a weekend morning or evening when the streets are emptier. Even as a longterm resident, I loved it and even learned a few new things! Next time, I’m going for two hours…
