Men who wish to dress snappily will find more and more options in Prague these days with dapper menswear shops popping up all over the Czech capital—there’s even an entire shopping mall (, Central Europe’s first, devoted to stylish gents! In need of a smart pair of derbies to match your bespoke suit? Follow the lead of the Czech actors, foreign diplomats, and others Prague A-listers who have of late been spotted at newly opened Classic Shoes. A selection of handcrafted designer footwear ranging from English brand Loake’s traditional oxfords to Alfred Sargent’s country brogues, as well as handsome Norwegers from Hungarian label Vass Shoes are the stars of this inviting boutique which feels a bit like a gentleman’s study. Casual styles including Church’s Hirst Green and Watson Cherry suede lace-ups are perfect picks for summer. To boot, owner Michal Kučera promises, in his personal quest to convert the fashion-challenged Czech male (or anyone else for that matter), a one-on-one style consultation should you catch him in the shop. I’d say Kučera’s mission—not mention his store—is truly a step in the right direction.
