Why not escape to the Bohemian countryside for a day at the spa? The Chateau Mcely spa is the perfect destination and definitely worth the effort to get there – trust me, you will not be disappointed. The spa features three spa suites, each with its own distinct personality. The Honey Pavilion is my favorite: located amidst the Chateau’s gardens, this hexagonal wood structure features a wonderful wooden bathtub for two, as well as a fireplace – in the winter and autumn months, it is simply magical. This tranquil setting created the ideal atmosphere for enjoying the “Royal Ritual of Nine Flowers” (150 minutes for 5,890 CZK), which began with a cleansing sage-salt peeling, followed by a body wrap, a facial massage with a fabulous rose serum, a relaxing soak in the wooden bathtub laced with lavender crystal and rose petals, and – finally – a full-body massage with warm herbal pouches. Needless to say, this heavenly procedure left me limp, drooling, and thoroughly satisfied.

Other treatments worth noting are the locally inspired “Beautifying Poppy Seed” (150 minutes for 5,200 CZK) – the Czech Republic is a poppy seed-loving nation – as well as the “Mcely Glow Facial” (90 minutes for 2,890 CZK). Before or after your treatment, you can also take advantage of the Chateau’s private beach and lake, sauna building, outdoor Jacuzzi, steam bath, health trail and sports grounds. Reservations are absolutely required, and I recommend that you try to make them before you arrive in Prague. For a full menu of spa services, visit their website.

note: All of the products used in their treatments are blended by hand in the Chateau’s own “alchemical” laboratory, located on the property, using exclusively local ingredients. The full range of skin and body care products is available for purchase at the spa or at their online store.
