If you’re a fan of Czech glass (or would like to become one), you’ll want to check out a new exhibition called CONCERTO GLASSICO: The Czech Art of Glass, on view at the Czech Centre Prague Gallery (Rytířská 539/31) through 31 January.

Located just a few minutes away from Václavské náměstí, this dynamic show is produced by the Czech Art of Glass Association, which describes itself as “the marketing platform of the Czech glass and glass jewelry-making industry.”

The work on view includes sculptures and beaded pieces made by prominent contemporary Czech artisans; student work from the world-renowned School of Glass Art and Design in Nový Bor; and a fascinating collection of photographs by the famous Czech photographer Miroslav Vojtěchovský, depicting glass works created by a range of significant 20th-century Czech artisans.

Although the exhibition does not offer much in the way of written content to explain or contextualize the artists and works displayed, a free catalogue and several artist-specific brochures provide some useful supplementary information. Vojtěchovský’s beautiful book, Glass Dialogues, containing his photographs and interviews with twenty-nine major Czech glass artists, is also available for purchase.

Overall, this is a well-curated show that is well worth the visit!
