To kick off our new-for-2017 series of occasional blog posts focusing on classic cocktails and how to make them, we thought we’d start with a real doozy: The Corpse Reviver No.1.

This bracing old-timey classic cocktail has a long reputation of use as a hair-of-the-dog approach to hangover relief, meant to refresh after a night of heavy drinking. As the “No.1” in the name suggests, several popular variations exist; perhaps you’d like to experiment with a few? Whatever time of night (or day) you choose to make them, you’ll want to serve them in our elegant cocktail glasses.

Corpse Reviver No. 1

·         1 ½ oz. brandy

·         ¾ oz. Calvados

·         ¾ oz. sweet Italian vermouth

Add all the ingredients to a shaker and fill with ice. Shake well and strain into a cocktail glass.
